Rumors of our demise have been greatly exaggerated

We’re not dead, I promise! Some of us just went on vacation and have spent the last week trying to catch up on what’s been happening on the internet. Wouldn’t want to be redundant or duplicative, you know?

Luckily, it seems nothing of note has happened in the past few weeks. Certainly not Trump firing the stats person at Labor because Trump doesn’t like stats, or Trump moving around nukes because of something a nobody said, or, well, you get the picture. Nothing of note happened while we were gone because we were not around to note it.

But I’m sitting here, reading through various blogs and news sites and tech journalism and other website content, and I just have to say that if you are not using an RSS reader, you really should be. Yes, Google Reader died unceremoniously a million years ago. But! There are tons of RSS readers out there, and they are now basically light years ahead of what Google Reader was at its death. You can read your blogs, your websites, your newsletters, almost whatever the hell you want, all in one little box that sorts, categorizes, and keeps track of what you have read. It’s super. I use Inoreader. It’s not a million times better or worse than any of the other ones, but if you’re looking for a recommendation, it’s a good one.

My other recommendation, since this is a Friday and all: have a nice cold beer. It’s summer, it’s hot outside, and you just worked a full week (or if you’re one of the many, many, many people who don’t have a shitty office job, it might be mid-work-week for you, which, fuck it, still have a cold beer), and you earned it.

And watch North of North (on Netflix). It’s a delightful comedy set in northern Canada featuring a cast of indigenous people (and one white woman). You also deserve to watch something nice and funny.

That’s it. We’ll be back with more posts that will probably be angrier shortly.

Heck, let’s make this an open thread if you want. Give us your recommendations. On anything. We’re all ears.
