If you’re one of the four-or-so frequent readers of this here blog, chances are you also occasionally check out the New York Times op-ed page. You may even know the names: Thomas “Friedman Ain’t Free” Friedman, Gail “The Colander” Collins, Nicholas “The Dark Crystal” Kristof, &c. Well, I’ve decided to devote a daily feature to these folks, by daily pointing out one line that is either awesome, funny, insightful, intelligent, ridiculous, or utterly divorced from reality. I hope you enjoy.
Today\’s is from Paul \”The Little Professor\” Krugman, who in his column \”Lost Decade Looming?,\” wonders if we should be looking at Japan\’s lost decade of stagnant growth and deflation as a warning instead of Greece\’s debt and fiscal crash:
So what we should really be asking right now isn’t whether we’re about to turn into Greece. We should, instead, be asking what we’re doing to avoid turning Japanese. And the answer is, nothing.
And, as usual, David \”Yawny-Pants\” makes no real sense. Roger \”Life of the Party\” Cohen, though, seems right on.
